Season's Behavioral Health
Seasons Behavioral Health for Older Adults at Dunn Memorial Hospital has provided mental health services to older adults since 1999. With attention to the individual needs of the patient, our team provides care and treatment designed to maximize their daily functioning, and provides an opportunity to return to their former living situation. Our staff is able to provide referral information and assist with alternative placement as appropriate. Our daily program is flexible and allows the patient time for individual leisure as well as group activity.

While at Seasons
While you are here our Medical Director, Sajal K. Bose, M.D. will oversee your care. Dr. Bose is Board Certified in both Geriatric and Addiction Psychiatry. He is a graduate of King George Medical College in Lucknow, India. Dr. Bose completed his residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in June of 1980.
He began private practice in Psychiatry in 1984, and continues to offer inpatient and outpatient services to the people of south central Indiana. A primary care consulting physician will be following you for your medical needs in collaboration with Dr. Bose.

Our multidisciplinary team:
Our specialized multidisciplinary team consists of our Psychiatrist, Primary Care Consulting Physicians, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Activity Assistant, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, & a Certified Recreational Therapist. Other disciplines may be consulted and involved in your care if ordered by the physician. This team will coordinate and implement your individual care plan during your stay. Your care plan will be developed to address your individual needs.
The purpose of Seasons
The program's purpose is to promote the maximum cognitive, social, physical, behavioral, and emotional development in each of our patients in the most caring and efficient manner possible. Daily activities may include but are not limited to: Orientation, exercise/stretching, goal setting, medication education, coping skills, disease process education, social interaction, sensory stimulation, selfcare instruction, current events, meal planning, leisure skills, relaxation and inspirational activities. Specific activities for each patient relate to his/her specific needs/goals.

Family Involvement and Support
The family and/or the referral source are encouraged to be involved in assessment, treatment planning, continuing care and discharge planning. Given the patient's/legal representative's permission, the social worker or other member of the treatment team maintains communication with family members during the patient's hospitalization about treatment, progress and other issues concerning the patient.
Treatment team meetings are held weekly involving the patient, psychiatrist, social worker, family, nurse and outside agencies as appropriate. The purpose of the meetings is to share information and provide support. The clinical social worker or another member of the treatment team facilitates meetings.
Discharge Planning
Upon admission the treatment team will begin planning for your discharge. The average length of stay is 9-11 days. Your stay may be shorter or longer depending on your individual needs and response to treatment. When discharge date is known, our staff will assist you with planning transportation back to your home or place you were or will be living. If you wish to leave earlier than agreed upon by the psychiatrist, then you will need to submit a written request 24 hrs. in advance to the psychiatrist.
Frequently asked questions while admitted to Seasons Behavioral Health:
Can I go outside? You will be permitted to go outside on our patio under supervision from staff. Weather and schedule permitting.
Once I'm admitted, may I leave the unit? Our policy prohibits you to leave the unit unless receiving diagnostic tests or treatments outside the unit in the hospital.
What should I bring with me to the hospital?
Do's: POA/Guardianship papers, Advance Directive papers (if applicable), 3-4 comfortable
outfits, sleepwear, shoes without strings, list of medications currently taking.
Don't's: Sharp objects, belts, suspenders, glass frames, and vases.
Why is the unit locked? The locked unit provides safety for all of our patients.
Where am I? This is Dunn Memorial Hospital, Seasons Behavioral Unit in Bedford, Indiana. It is a specialized in-patient treatment unit for older adults.
Why am I here? People are admitted for various reasons some of which include adjustments to their medications which treat symptoms of anxiety, depression, and/or agitation. Others may be admitted to the unit because they have trouble with their memory or have an unsafe living situation at their home.
How long will I be here? Patients generally remain with us until their symptoms improve. Sometimes, with proper medication, and individualized treatment, symptoms improve within a few days. Others may take longer, up to a few weeks.
What is going to happen to me here? Patients are encouraged to eat their meals in the dining room, wear street clothes, and participate in our daily programming. This includes activities, doctor's visits, medication adjustments, and plan of care and treatment goal setting meetings.
Who is my doctor? Dr. Bose is the psychiatrist who treats patients on this unit. There will be a primary care physician assigned to provide care for you while you are admitted to Seasons.
Who's running this place? The staff include, a nurse manager, social worker, recreational therapist, nurses, and nursing assistants who are responsible for providing care.
Can I have visitors? Visiting hours are from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. each day. Visitors must have the privacy code number before they will be allowed to enter our unit, and are required to sign-in upon visitation to maintain client confidentiality. Children under 12 years of age may only enter the unit upon approval from staff.
Can I use the telephone? Telephone privileges are allowed when convenient, not interrupting therapy.
Can I smoke or chew tobacco? Dunn Memorial Hospital is a tobacco-free campus. This means that anyone who is a patient here or works here cannot use tobacco products on the property. Nicotine patches are available if requested from the doctor.
Can I watch television? Yes. There is a tv room on the unit where you can watch a variety of programs as long as it does not interfere with your treatment.
What is my code number for? Confidentiality. You must give this number to anyone whom you would like to receive information about you or your care.
What about food? You will be encouraged to complete a menu daily stating what food you wish for your meals and snacks in accordance with your prescribed diet.
